The Southern Gulf region is an important ecological, economic and social region of North America, and supports key environments such as salt marshes, beaches, estuaries and forests. It provides critical spawning, feeding and nursery grounds for numerous species of fish and shellfish, birds and animals. Communities along the Gulf Coast depend on its resources for income, recreational opportunities and their quality of life. This site provides a network of community driven knowledge serving citizens, governments, aboriginal groups, private sector and non-governmental organizations in their efforts to sustain the integrity of the Southern Gulf of St. Lawrence.
